Hey Dari.

I found a small bug I had to fix first.

first my link
http://www.txwheelers.com/modules.php?name=gallery2

Gallery version = 2.0.2 core 1.0.0.2
PHP version = 4.4.2 apache
Web server = Apache
Database = mysql 4.0.27-standard-log
Toolkits = ArchiveUpload, Gd, ImageMagick, NetPBM, Thumbnail

there are still a couple of problems. I can only upload 1 picture at a time. I get a thumbnail error ever time.
And the other problem is any album I go into, it seems the default font color and size are over ridden.

Right now those are the only problem I have found. In updating to the newest gallery version. I managed to screw up my database and had to install a back-up. During the back up install I managed to fubar the communication from the pics to the DB table. All the pictures are till in their respective folder. But the stored DB info has seemed to vanish. I am being lazy. I don't want to have to FTP all the files back to my computer just to have to re upload them. I know Ill have to Ive just been lazy.
Unless ya know a short cut.

Any how this is a step in the right direction. Now I have about a bazillion hot link URLs on the net to correct.

I know I don't have the latest integration package. But the last time it took me several weeks to correct the blank page problem.

Any how, whadda ya think? Good? bad? any suggestion?

-Nick

Never did come back to post an update.

I had to install a back up of my database. Some of the picture chmod changed during the backup install. I had to change them to 777. Then I did a thumb and pic rebuild in the admin area of gallery2. All of my pics started working. But I still have the problem with URL rewrite over riding the default phpnuke theme. I changed a few things like the font colors to match the phpnuke theme. But I gave up on the rest (font sizes and theme pics....) I am sure I can fix this in the gallery theme php file, but I didn't feel like screwing up the gallery again. Smile

One thing you'll have to remember is; any pics you have placed using the long url will not be directed. So the only one that will work are the new ones using the short URLs. Here is a picture of my settings. You can look at the properties and see what the short URLs will look like.

I am not sure changing the files mentioned about. But if these settings don't work, leave them like this. and try adjusting the files mentioned above.

Hi Nick I tried those settings, but its not working. In the screenshot a few posts above your integration settings are:

full path to gallery2 directory, my integration screen in admin looks different.

these are the only settings I have

Full URL to your embedded Gallery:
Full URL to your standalone Gallery:
Active User ID:
Cookie Path:

so for the first I have

http://www.domain.com/modules.php?name=gallery2
http://www.domain.com/modules/gallery2/
0
/

(where domain.com is the name of my site)

I have enabled the url rewrite in g2 admin, and it passes all the tests and writes out .htacess into the modules/gallery2 folder

In your g2 rewrite settings, you don't have view item ticked and download item ticked , does this mean no friendly url for viewing images?

As it happens the download link is the one I was after, I desperately need that functionality, ie to link images in my forums. Anyway, it didn't work, I checked the properties of your link and saw that it had the format

domain.com/number/filename.ext

mine showed domain.com/modules/gallery/number/filename.ext

I changed it to match yours but it still didn't show the image

Confused

Is there any chance I could mail you about this? I'm under pressure to get it sorted, and I have other issues I need to work on too (video playback etc) I also found that as soon as I enabled friendly urls my thumbnails disappeared and a text link was inserted.

Thanks for your help Nick

I am not sure what integration package I am using. There is a trick you can do so you wont get the "you need to update" notice. But I don't think thats your problem.

There is a portion of the .htaccess file you have to copy into the .htaccess file in the root directory.
In your g2 rewrite settings, you don't have view item ticked and download item ticked , does this mean no friendly url for viewing images?
when you "mouse over" an item you see the long url. But is you go to the properties (IE) you see the short URL. Or if you use FF you can copy image location and its all good (short URLs).
As it happens the download link is the one I was after, I desperately need that functionality, IE to link images in my forums. Anyway, it didn't work, I checked the properties of your link and saw that it had the format
I cant remember exactly why I didn't select those settings. I slightly remember thinking the pix wouldn't show up, but the short URLs work. Or something like that.

sure you can email me. webmaster@txwheelers[dot]com I believe your problem is in the .htaccess file. Ill look at mine and see what I copied into the root file, then maybe we can post a bug fix (band-aid not fix) I had posted this in another thread with a little more info. But I can't seem to find it. Dari was helping me with the first one.

wtf ! I got it working, the problem was that I wasn't allowing the save to .htaccess (don't like anything touching that, once I allowed it, it then saved my correct paths. What I don't understand though, is I copied the stuff from the embedded htaccess into the main one, but it still whined when it couldn't write to the main one. I guess it can't check to begin with.

Fingers crossed this is it, thanks for your help. I sent you an email, lets see how this goes.
