I've been toying with this idea for awhile now, but have decided to leave it up to the community at large.
This site's goal is to provide support for *Nuke users and Gallery users. This is attained via these discussion forums. The PHPNuke engine facilitates things like downloads, and a few other items here. Back when this site was first started, there was no "good" way to provide a download mechanism via phpBB. With the numerous MODs out there, that has changed. Migrating away from the phpNuke/ported phpBB system makes site maintainance much easier (as I only have to worry about keeping one set of software up to date, and I don't have to worry about losing any of the modifications I make).
So, I pose this question to the community:
Would you care if I port this site over to a standalone phpBB system, maintaining the user database and current forums, as well as putting into place a download mechanism and demonstration galleries for both Gallery 1.x and Gallery 2 (running in a phpNuke demonstration site)? As the owner of this site, it would allow me to stop worrying about the latest phpNuke vulnerabilities, and instead allow me to concentrate on developing new blocks and modifications for Gallery. Please vote and let me know your thoughts as to why you voted the way you voted. _________________

no way, keep the system the way it is now, its perfect.
a standalone system wouldn't have the "feel" this does |

| I think that if you have more time to focus on Gallery + phpNuke developments it will help out the community at large more than running a functional phpNuke site yourself. Please do whatever is going to make you more productive to help us ! hehe. |

You'd have to worry about the latest PHPBB vulnerabilities though.

yes, but they are few and far between. and, as a whole, you see far fewer security advisories being released for phpBB than for phpNuke. additionally, i would *only* have to keep an eye out for phpBB advisories, not phpBB AND phpNuke. _________________

I've put up a developmental site here:
http://test.nukedgallery.net
DO NOT register/login/post on that site. It is strictly for developmental use only, and to showcase what the new site will look like. _________________

Due to a hacking incident on the server, the test site is no longer available. The hacker was able to get ahold of the list of email addresses, and attempted to use them to register on the test site. My host has been notified. _________________
