Is it possible to culminate loads of different blocks into one?

What I was thinking off was a centre block, where it could scroll either horizontally or vertically (admin can chose in config?), the number of images it pulls up settable in config, and images from the following categories;

Most Recent Photo
Most Looked at Photo
Random Photo

Is this doable? I'm using a Chatserve patched distro of phpnuke 6.9......

Gallery version is v1.4.3-pl2 - although that will get upgraded later this week.

Was an idea..... Rolling Eyes

Any feedback welcome.......

well yeah it is doable, just a matter of someone willing to do it. I would but im having probs with gallery myself atm so not sure I will be writing a block for it until I figure out how to resolve this prob.

But.. I will write one as soon as I get this figured out and fixed, assuming nobody beats me to it Smile

i can take a look at this. this is a pretty massive block, with lots of functionality that will have to be debugged against the various gallery releases currently available...

Thanks for the feedback.

I guess it would be a "mother" of all blocks, but then it would probably offer loads of functionality choices- why have, say, 4 side blocks making your page size (as in top to bottom) potentially a lot bigger when a centre block could replace them all? that was my idea behind it anyways.

If I can help in any way, please let me know.

My php experience is limited, but I can read it (just not write it from scratch)

Cheers.

Andy.

let me take a look at what's involved. i'm 3 weeks away from getting married, so right now, preparation for that is taking center stage over most other things (except my day job :p). once the wedding stuff is done and over with, i should have some time to sit down and work on this.

no problem, no rush.

I've managed this long without it Wink

Good luck with the wedding- it should be the best day of your life- enjoy it. I did. (My own, that is!) Mr. Green Laughing

last day of your life lol, j/k (i can say that I am married) now let me post this real quick before the wife sees it lol,

naw good luck with getting married Smile top part was a bit of humor, but honestly being married so far for me has been great Smile

I have to agree with what dari said tho, it is a big block and will take some time to code up, then the testing involved, specially since it would have to be tested to be sure it does not open potential exploits into the gallery module itself.
