User Image Upload section - user galleries

Hello.
I was wondering if anyone had any success is modifying the gallery module so that registered users could create and administer their own albums. I am trying to build a site for artists to upload images of their work. Optimally, each artist would have their own seperate gallery album in which they could add/delete administer etc all of their own images. I saw an old post from September of 2003 but the issue wasn't really addressed.
Anyone know if there are any scripts/mods out there to do something like this or if it is planned in the next release of Gallery? Or is anyone familiar with how to actually do this? If so, any help is GREATLY appreciated.

That is already possible with GALLERY >1.4.2 - however it requires the ADMIN to give the registered user(owner) the PERMISSIONS to maintain an ALBUM (which for you, would be best? as you wouldn't want just anyone registering and uploading? You would want to check them out first?)
