Picture voting in a cup competition??

Hi does anyone know if this is possible and how: (i´m no coder myself)

I want to be able to offer users to vote between two pictures at a time and choose which picture they think is better. I want the gallery to randomly pair up the pictures and then the winning picture goes on to the next round to randomly compete against another pic... and so on...
It would be like a sport´s cup... you start maby with 256 pictures which would make 128 battles, and 128 winners, those winners would go on to the next round which would make 64 battles and 64 winners... then 32... then 16... 8....4....2 and 1 ultimate winner.

Of course you can´t expect users to pick between the whole 256 pics in the beginning in just one day or week, but i think every vote should be desplayed seperatly for one day on the front page and then users can browse to other battles and vote there if they want to...

It would be good to get some feedback on this and if anyone thinks this is possible...
