FAQ wrote: › Make sure that the owner of the album directory is the user that the webserver runs as.

Can someone explain WHAT this means and HOW to implement it? I think it's the key to my problem. I want to install 1.5.5-pl1 on two servers, both running Nuke 7.9 standard.

Server #1: Apache/2.2.4 (WinXP-Home) PHP/5.2.1
Server #2: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 (Win2003) PHP/4.4.3

I have full desktop access to both.

I wanted to install Gallery 2.2, but when I tried it, it looked AWFUL. It uses its own theme, where as Gallery 1.5.5-pl1 uses Nukes theme. Looks nice, but couldn't seem to upload anything when I tested it on Server #1. So I've deleted the Nuke installation and dropped the database. Created a new database, reinstalled Nuke 7.9 standard and awaiting your reply.

I'll make a donation once everything is functioning.

Thx, J.

for a windows-based installation, go to the user manager, and you should see a user for the webserver, either IIS or Apache. right click the folder in question -> properties -> security -> advanced. change the owner to the webserver user. i think you need to have NTFS file systems for this (default, i believe, in 2003, but optional in XP). if this doesn't work, move the album directory into the gallery installation directory and try the configuration.

Oh man. I've been trying to get this thing to work for months. I've just came to realize that the only way I can get passed this Error, is to give the users -

Plesk IIS User (IUSR_*name*)
Plesk IIS WP User (IWPD_6(*name*))

Read & Execute privileges to the cmd.exe. Which, I'm no security expert, but that sounds a bit risky to me. Besides, I can only change the permissions of the folders in the 'httpdocs' folder 'I think'.

you might want to search around on the main gallery forums to see if they have any solutions. the codex may have something as well.
