Alright. As far as I know, you can upgrade to that version no problems.
You won't loose any information; usernames, passwords, posted, etc. But it is still a good idea to backup your database before making any changes. Use phpMyAdmin or something like that to do that.
Then, start by downloading the integration package HERE [nukedgallery.net], and follow the instructions in the package.
Then if you run into problems, create a thread in the phpBB2 forums describing your problem, along with version information, server information, debug output, description of the problem, a link to the site, and anything else you can think of to get help.
P.S. Remember, you have to have gallery2 install and configured and running before you can install the integration package. Just like the instructions say.

Hahah Thanks.
About my site, one of the things you prob. don't know is I don't use phpBB or phpNuke. I did, and thats why I'm still here but currently I'm using Word Press. Which is a blogging system, and not a forum or a CMS system.

Well, first off. You said you got phpbb2 up and running. But your not sure if which phpNuke version you need.
I don't think you understand that these are two different suits of software. Let me explain, if you know then great ignore this. Otherwise this should help. phpBB2 is a forum, where people post threads and topics. phpNuke (and all versions thereof) is a CMS (Content Management System). This allows multiple people (or one - me - thats how I had my site) to post stories, news, articles, polls, etc. Another thing here is phpNuke has phpBB built into it. So you don't need to have it before hand.
You asked which version of phpNuke you want, that depends. To me, it seems like you don't really need a CMS, and instead just need a forum for people to post threads/topics. You also said that you want comments; these can and be handled inside Gallery2 it's self.
Now if you really want a CMS, then you don't have to have phpBB up and running as phpNuke comes with it built in- or at least the version I started with did.
Since you asked what it would look like with your gallery embedded in, here are some examples of the two different systems with a little description of the advantages/disadvantages of the systems. (I'm not commenting on the site, just explaining the use of the two different software's features.)
First, phpNuke. This is from the "Show off your Gallery" thread, and it is Nathan_Barley's site (Art Terrorist) [artterrorist.com]. Plus: Lots of features. If you want tons of content, then phpNuke is for you. Using this site as an example, you have the gallery, forums, links page, etc on the main menu. Some phpNuke features not shown but can be activated are surveys, news/stories, calenders and more. These are all controlled by "blocks" and can be displayed on the side bars (left or right, or even middle in some cases). Minus: phpNuke can be bloated to say the least, it has A LOT of features that rarely get used in smaller websites. If your users only use the forums, and sometimes posts pictures and comments then phpBB is, I think, the best choice for you. That said, read on:
Second we got, phpBB. This one is Anime/Graphic Gallery [veforums.net] (by xcf33). This is a good example of how gallery2 looks inside a phpBB forum. As you can see, when you're viewing the gallery the rest of phpBB is pretty much not there. This is the #1 reason I chose to use phpNuke on my site. I liked having the rest of the site "around" (literally) the rest of the page with blocks and such. However, like I mentioned before if your users aren't going to use the extra features then this really isn't for you.
Not to knock either of the two platforms; they both have some awesome advantages. It is just, one is more geared toward a multiuser-submission system (phpNuke), whereas the other isn't (phpBB).
And remember, each of the two can be MADE to do what you want. There are MANY addons (mods for phpBB and modules/blocks for phpNuke) that can make your site do just what you want.

In gallery2 you can enable user albums, where each user will have there own album to post pictures. Or (prob. better) you can create a "homemade photo page" album, and a user group. Then add only the people you want to be able to submit photos to that user group.
I know, a very long post. I hope it all helps though. Anymore questions, you know where to find me.
