Permissions Issue

I've spent 2 weeks researching this and am getting nowhere.
Nuke ver. 7.6. and have the latest gallery2 integration package.

I've opened the gallery2 module to EVERYBODY.
I want Registered Users to have the ability to create sub-albums and sub-items.
I have set the permissions to reflect this.
Now, my problem is this........
A Registered User does not see an option to upload anything unless i set the permission to Registered Users = EDIT.
The problem is that EDIT gives the user the ability to modify existing info like photo names and such. Obviously, EDIT is higer on the hierarchial ladder. Can this be moved down so UPLOAD take precedence?
Is it possible to give the Registered Users the ability to upload without giving them edit permissions to anything else?

use the "user albums" module, and enable the option to create a new album for each user when they register, that way they'll have their own album to muck around in.

I appreciate the quick response but that's not what I want. I want to have all user submissions in one album. In that album can be 10 or 100 alubums. Doesn't matter to me as long as i can put them in one central album.

I take it that aside from this, there's no other way to to what I'm after? What files are the permissions scripted in? I'd like to try and see what I can do to make this work.
