cant run configuration wizzard

I have read through the readme and followed all the directions and chmod the files as stated but I can not get to the configuration wizzard. I get Page could not be displayed HTTP 500. I have been up all night trying to get this to work and have been reading through the forums but cant find a fix. Sorry if this has been covered before and I didnt see it.

look at your server error logs. 500 is an internal server error.

Can you tell me where I can find the server logs? I have looked through the directories looking for some but cant find them. I am new to this so sorry for being noobish Rolling Eyes

I spoke with my webspace provider and they informed me I do not have access to the error logs Crying or Very sad

Here is what they said in the trouble ticket:

Do you have an htaccess file on your File Manager? This might be the one causing the error. Please note that some directives are not supported. It may be that your .htaccess file has some directives which are inoperative. Some apache commands are no longer supported in .htaccess or .htconfig due to security concerns. In the install directions is said to make a .htaccess file in the gallery folder but it was blank.

I was looking forward to having a gallery for my website for our screenshots and stuff. Is there anything else I can check?
