Nuke Users, Gallery users, and access rights

Probably asked and answered, but I couldn't find it wioth a search:

Is there any way new nuke users can be made automatically into new gallery users with add rights?

Also, how can I migrate my existing nuke users to gallery and assign add rights?

actually i'd love an answer to this. I just installed Gallery 1 and it keeps trying to get me to create a new account in PHP-Nuke.. very annoying

I'm suffering the same problems myself. It seems only 'God' accounts in Nuke can create a top level gallery.

My workaround.

Create a gallery for the user. Grant them access rights and let them run with it. You only have to do it for one gallery as the user will then have permission to create sub-folders on their own.

Though I guess another, more crude, way is to create one gallery and then grant Registered or Everybody access to it. But that will leave the door wide open for most of us.

Any further insights sure would help. My client has a team of photographers and setting them all up with individual galleries is really annoying.

there is a hack on this site to create an album for g1 users when they register w/ phpnuke. however, g1 does not natively support this.

I've seen mentions of these hacks for nuke. The term, to my newbie ears, sounds rather negative.

What exactly is a 'hack' for nuke as opposed to a patch, upgrade, custom module et al.

it's not a patch, since it isn't offered officially by the phpnuke dev team. it's not an upgrade, as it doesn't affect the core phpnuke functions, nor is it a module. it's just a snippit of code that does what you're asking for Smile

Yes, you can do this with gallery 1 and 1.5

it has to do with register globals and then setting the correct permissions.

i have it set up like this now on my site.

works fine.

when you log in, you can use and view the gallery with whatever permissions i have set. no need to create another accoutn or log into the gallery again. logging into the site ,a lso logs u into the gallery
