Yesterday I came across the following error upon loading the page:

Warning: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at header.php:32) in gallery/session.php on line 51

Warning: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at header.php:32) in gallery/session.php on line 51

I had also just recently installed virus protection on my machine, so I disabled it and it worked fine again. Anytime Norton Internet Security is enabled on any machine, these errors occur. Although it's not the end of the world to have this occur to those users who use that virus software, it would be nice to remove this little bug.

Any help or fixes would be great! Thanks!

it might be a cookie related thing. ie, the server name issuing the cookie might not be the same as the name in the cookie (it should be, though). do you have the capability to view your logs of Norton? if so, what do they say that may shed light on it?

I think it is obviously a cookie thing, NIS is not allowing the browser to store any data from this or any other site that contains this block (I've tested every block around the net I could find). Immediately when I disable NIS, everything works again.

The logs are very vague; I have been unable to find anything that clearly specifies what generated this error.

FYI, I have tested this with 3 different machines on several different sites, and all produce the same outcome. So I think it is safe to say that this is not a configuration issue.

see if it lets you check out the data for the cookie...ie the server that's sending it, and the servername contained in it. this would be a handy thing to know....

In the NIS privacy logs, there are 3 'types' listed: User Agent, Cookie, Referrer. It blocks ALL referrer references on the page and allows all cookies and user agents. I don't know if this helps.

Continuing from above post...

NIS does this on EVERY site that accesses the internet by default. It just for some reason causes an error with this block. It does not cause any errors within gallery itself.

Is it because those images are stored in CACHE on your local machine? Is is the same if you visit a site you have never been to before?

Yes I get the same 'referrer' blocks in the logfile no matter what site I go to. It does not cause errors on other sites though, obviously, and does not cause problems within gallery.

I have accidently solved my Admin Loop problem, and the solution may help you. I simply turned off Zone Alarm Pro. Are you running the Norton Firewall? If so, turn it off and see if the problem persists. If it goes away, start with an absolutely blank setting and by trial and error work yourself up to your level of comfortability. Steve

With Nortons can't you set TRUSTED ZONES? and give it no restriction?
