I have posted this problem on various nuke sites, etc. but no one has an answer. I know it can't be that elusive, so I'll try once more.
The Gallery on our site has been up for a while now (v1.3.3). When we upgraded to Nuke 6.5 there were SQL errors so we upgraded to v1.3.4. The errors went away and we were able to configure the Gallery. The admin activated the module and it was up for a day or so. Then it mysteriously became inactive. While it's up there are no errors and users can upload pics, etc.
Since then we have reactivated numerous times, changed the name of the Gallery, modified the mid, checked to make sure there were no extra fields in nuke_modules and it still becomes deactivated. We haven't installed any new modules since the Gallery. Plus, the first time we checked the mid it was a number in the 300 range and we don't have near that many modules! We have since changed it to 24. To no avail, because the last time we activated the Gallery it became inactive within a couple of hours.
I'm sorry, I don't have all the webserver info. I am not the actual site admin. Just a helper admin, I guess.
Thanks for any info you can provide!

This was a common issue with Gallery and upgrading to Nuke 6.5. That version of nuke changed some of the names of the database fields. There's an article on this site that clears it up. However, with Gallery 1.3.4, those errors were corrected (gallery checked which Nuke version you were using).

what i'd do is log into the database itself (using PHPMyAdmin or something), and delete the Gallery entry out of the Modules database table. Move the Gallery folder out of the modules directory (keep the albums in place). Then, make sure that there are no gallery entries in the modules table. Next, move the gallery folder back into the modules directory. Nuke should automatically detect it and add it to the table, giving you the chance to activate it. the mid (module ID) is a counter that counts the number of modules that have been present in your site in totality. thus, if you've added, then removed lots of modules (experimenting, etc), the mid will still increment, even though you may only have a couple of modules available/active on your site. _________________
Actually, we started with Gallery and tried changing the name to Pics to see if that made any difference. We only activated Pics. The name change didn't make a difference as Pics becomes inactive as well. Yes, we have activated the module using phpMyadmin.
I don't know if the admin ever moved the gallery folder or removed all entries from the table. I thought he should move to a newer version of Gallery just in case (I am using v1.3.4-pl1 on another site and it is working fine).
Thanks for your quick response! We'll give your suggestions a try.
