Uh.... I know this was much more than likely addressed in the "old" forums, but I don't remember the answer. (LOL)
Does the fresh install of phpBB have to be in the same database as the Nuke install, or can they have their own databases?
(I'm pretty sure that the answer is that it does not have to be the same database since the config.php files call for their corresponding SQL DB's.... It's just that one database can become pretty large for installing more than one program/CMS, and I'd like to alleviate that if possible. However, for now I'll use the same database unless/until told otherwise; just want to be sure.)
BTW, I've done all the file edits and found/noted the newer version differences; so I'll post to you the "find" portions that were different in my versions of phpBB (2.0.14) and Nuke (7.6) ASAP as promised for you to puruse and decide what needs to be changed RE: version updates and what doesn't.... I'm no programmer, I just compensate mods/hacks when I find a line that's not the same as instructed to find.

yes, it does have to be the same, since you want all the users, etc to be integrated. when you install it, leave the prefix as phpbb_ and then change it later, as per the instructions (and you can delete the old tables). _________________

Thanks yet again, Dari!
I did the file edits, but wasn't entirely sure about the database issue; so I just put it down and walked away from it for the time being (which isn't easy for me to do, LOL).... I'll work more on it tomorrow.
Wish me luck, I'm crossing my fingers!
BTW.... I don't have a clue as to why, but if I make ANY changes to Nuke's admin.php, or even the database period (i.e., change my password or edit the "God Admin" in any way whatsoever), for some reason admin.php will be a completely blank page; and if I view the source code on the page all that comes up is the default <head> and <body> tags and attributes. This is not the first time this has happened to me either; as a matter of fact, I "ditched" Nuke about a year ago and went to standalone phpBB because I was tired of Nuke doing those things, figured I'd wait for a "better" version to come out. But no matter the version, it still does this. I have no clue why, and it bugs the heck outta me!
BUT, my site members did like the Nuke layout and versatility that standalone phpBB doesn't always have EVEN with tons of mods/hacks, so I've been searching all this last year to find a way to use Nuke but still keep my standalone phpBB and make them work together.
So, if anyone has any clue as to why these things would happen, I'd greately appreciate what their solutions (tried & true OR simply possibilities) would be.
DOH! Forgot another "stupid" question!
So although the nuke_users tables/fields are different from the phpbb_users tables/fields (no matter the prefix, I simply mean the data itself), it WILL still integrate the users from one install to the other (and vice versa of course) after all the DB changes have taken place properly??? (I ask this because once I make any change whatsoever, it won't log me in, THE "GOD" ADMIN, says that it's an invalid login, and then won't email me a new password because it says that I don't exist.... even if I don't make any changes to the users table at all...?!?!?!?!?
(I'm sure I'll have more "stupid" questions sooner or later, as integrating Nuke and phpBB isn't an easy thing to do even when the codes are 100% error free, because of course we humans aren't 100% error free. However, I'm a troubleshooter, so hopefully I won't be bogging this forum down with redundant questions.... bear with me please!) _________________ You can lead a horse to water but you can't teach an old dog to make a silk purse out of a pig in a poke.

Well, I did put the word "stupid" in quotes, it was intentional because what one finds to be a relevant question another (i.e., more experienced) person will perceive to be stupid because they already know the answer and seem to forget that they were once a "newbie" just like everyone else begins.... CYA and all that.
