<Hi I recently installed Gallery 1.4.4 on my website which runs phpnuke 7.5.
However when I run the gallery module I keep getting following error:
Warning: opendir(/home2/magick/public_html/gallery/albums): failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /home2/magick/public_html/modules/gallery/platform/fs_unix.php on line 71
I'm sorry I'm pretty new at this php stuff... but keen to learn

Give us your Gallery/webserver information to get a faster answer.
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL (optional but very useful): http://the-magick.com/modules/gallery/
Gallery version: 1.4.4-p16
Apache version: 1.3.33 unix
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please): 4.3.10
Graphics Toolkit: um ??
Operating system: Linux
Web browser/version (if applicable): Internet Explorer 6.0
The CONFIG lines from the top of your block file(s): sorry do you mean the error I get?
Warning: opendir(/home2/magick/public_html/gallery/albums): failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /home2/magick/public_html/modules/gallery/platform/fs_unix.php on line 71
thanx heaps

| first, don't put your albums inside your gallery directory. even if you could, you didn't specify your paths properly, you're missing a "/modules/" after the "public_html".. |

thanks heaps, yes my server has Fantastico and it tells you to upload scripts into your home directory but I needed to move it down a leave so I could see the gallery in my module options. Then I got the above error and didn't know how to correct it. I think its easier as you suggest to reinstall the upgraded version instead

Hmm, I could have sworn that it pulled down the 1.4.4 version.
Where do people keep getting it from anyway?

This is killin me. . . I'm having a serious brain block. I have deleted the old Gallery and installed the new one... then ran the configuration wizard and got this error:
SERIOUS WARNING!:
The PHP option 'register_globals' is enabled on your server. Gallery highly recommends that you disable 'register_globals' unless it is required by software on your site. Gallery does not officially support 'register_globals' being enabled, and will attempt to disable it internally.
now as it says all I want to do is disable the 'register_globals' as it suggests and need to know where the file is and what software I can use to disable it with. God I feel like an idiot! do me a favour and slap me later
Any feedback appreciated

Hate dealing with Fantastico. Biggest piece of crap I've ever seen. Nice idea but can't understand why they like installing non secure software. *grumble*
In the Gallery configuration, there is the option to turn register globals emulation off.

Okay so looking for a fast and easy solution... I think I'll submit a request to the Paid Support area and see if I can get them to install it for me, I'm out of time.
<BR> Just wondering how long Gallery usually takes to install into phpnuke so I can budget for it. Yes this would be on the www.the-magick.com website. (This is actually for a friend we have started a web hosting service and this is one of the sites we want to put on it, so there will probably be other requests to have Gallery installed in other sites). Really would like it done this week if possible. |

| assuming a somewhat standard webhost (ftp/ssh access, though fantastico is ok, but can be very difficult to deal with), no more than about 15 minutes or so, depending on your server's connection speed. |

| The PHP support in WebSphere sMash is provided by a PHP runtime implemented in Java.[2]. PHP scripts are compiled into Java bytecode which then run on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). pass4sure HP0-S25 [pass4sure.nl] This is similar in concept to the approach taken by other projects such as JRuby and Jython, which run the Ruby and Python languages, respectively, against the JVM. Running on the JVM allows direct, pass4sure 000-973 [pass4sure.nl]same process calls between PHP, Java and Groovy code allowing applications pass4sure 000-331 [pass4sure.nl]to be assembled using a variety of languages. In contrast to the approach taken by Quercus, the other JVM based PHP implementation, sMash ispass4sure 000-201 [pass4sure.nl] able to re-use existing PHP extensions from PHP.net attaching them to the Java virtual machine via the Java Native Interface (JNI) and an API layer called XAPI-C.The runtime has a DBGp debug port allowing debug access from IDEs and debuggers which support the DBGp protocol such as the Eclipse PDT project. |
