Mistwalkers Gallery 2 Integration Time Saver Package

Okay. Since my first installation literally got f00ked up, I had to do everything again. And why not make a Time Saver package for everyone else while I'm at it? I want a package like that, so I made one Wink

(Doesn't save me any time thou Razz

)

Everything is pre-configured based on a new and clean installation of phpbb3Gold and Gallery2 2.2 Double Double release.

CAUTION!!!
IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER MODS INSTALLED, THIS PACKAGE WILL PROBABLY DESTROY THEM!

Instructions and everything is included. Thou, you have to download the original phpbb3 Gallery2 Integration package to get the original README.html file. If there are any errors or something like that, tell me and I will try to sort them out Smile

I will post updates to the package in this thread.

Some questions/comments -

Dari, do you want to host something like this through sourceforge?

Mistwalker, are you going to maintain this package for every phpbb3 change, Gallery change and integration change? Gallery 2.3 will be released sometime soon and I'm already working on a ucp module so users can set their own gallery link/profile settings rather than just the default admin settings.

Comments -
1. This package is for integration version 1.0.1a
2. This package is not yet a complete implementation of the integration. Only the core integration modded files are included, no additional features such as lightbox, etc. The gallery mods are missing, also.
3. There are some missing sql statements in the instructions for the style mods. (Mistwalker, that's probably why the gallery link images are missing on your test site.)

I have not installed this package and therefore cannot vouch for it's accuracy. I only took a quick look at the sample site and a quick look at the package. It's a nice start though if it will truly be maintained! Wink

side note:
i did something like this for phpnuke and phpbb2 w/ the gallery 2 integrations at one point, but maintaining the package when any of the three elements changed became unwieldy. Mistwalker, if you want to tackle this, i won't complain Smile

Nice with some feedback, as I said, I made this while installing the gallery on my own site, and only a few hours before work Wink

As said in the readme, there will be a complete release as soon as I have time for it Smile

I'll keep you updated Wink

And it's always good with feedback, so I know what I should try to include or exclude in the future.

would be cool to have patch files to upgrade between minor versions, for those of us who have other mods/custom code in our installations. I guess these could be generated automatically if you had a clean snapshot of each release ?

i tried that too..it's still no small feat (not much added labor, but you have to remember to do it each time Smile

). thank goodness that G2 and phpBB don't change too often.

For which gallery version it is made for? Will it work with version 2.2.4?

The integration works with Gallery 2.1 and up. There are no modded Gallery files in Mistwalkers package last time I saw it.
