it depends on what you need, really. g1 is simple, but for large galleries isn't the best. if you have a lot of images g2 is the better choice.
as for how, you'll have to read the docs, since i'd have to type it all out here anyway (hint: 1. download, 2. install, 3. integrate). |

Well, that will cost you $$$.
You downloaded gallery 1.5.2, it has the installation instructions included. You can also find tips on this site. I;m sure you can hire someone to install it for you.
That is the easiest one to install, but you do have to configure it. |

First rule of flight club, there are no rules.
Apparently the second rule of flight club is to not read any documentation. |

maybe you people are stuggling to understand somthing... im not sure , but this is what was in the read me file..
$Id: README,v 1.28 2003/09/01 20:02:52 alindeman Exp $
Gallery is now distributed with new documentation, available in the
docs/ directory of this distribution (won't be present in CVS
versions). To view the documentation, navigate to:
http://www.example.com/gallery/docs/index.html
(replacing http://www.example.com/gallery/ with the real path).
The docs will give you information on how to install, administer, and
upgrade Gallery. Check there first if you have any problems!
You can also view the most up-to-date docs directly on the Gallery website:
http://gallery.sf.net/docs.php
In these docs, you can also add user notes to the docs, to expand on
the documentation. If you find an error or think a section of the
docs needs clarification, you can add a note.
**IMPORTANT NOTE**
You should check the Gallery website often for notices of new Gallery
versions and security updates. We *highly* recommend subscribing to
the gallery-announce mailing list. This is extremely low-traffic, but
will provide you with announcements of new Gallery versions. You can
subscribe at this URL:
http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/list ... y-announce
See all the available mailing lists here:

| http://codex.gallery2.org IS the documentation for Gallery. If you'd like someone else to do your thinking for you, you can submit a paid support request on this website. |

| well, you're not likely to get someone to do a complete install for you for free, esp. for G2, as it's a fairly involved process. either take the time to read the docs, which you could have done by now, or submit a paid support request. |

The integration package is quite easily done. Just follow the instructions. My only minor snafu was after integration, I had 2 problems
1) The php memory allocation error of 8megs (needed at least 16)
2) The "module not configured" error.
Maybe those 2 issues could be added to the integration readme since they seem to be fairly common issues.

| the memory allocation issue is noted in the codex. the module not configured is a result of users not being exported (successfully). |
