I'm looking for a way that some type of form fields be associated with a certain picture to be edited by the uploader. To simplify...we have a biker gallery site. What I would like to do is have the person uploading his/her picture to be able to fill out some info about the picture they uploaded and contact information. An example would be:

upload/browse button with captions
owner: (text field)
frame: (dropdown box)
wheels:(dropdown box)
Exhaust:(dropdown box)
Paint:(text box)
Other Mods:(RTF box)
Website:(text box)

Is it possible to mod the curent gallery to allow something like this? Possibly mod the addphotos.php form properties? I am aware that it will probably require me to allow only one picture at a time, but this is ok.

Thank you!

CUSTOM TEXT FIELDS - this FEATURE already exists in GALLERY from 1.3.4+. It's called 'custom fields' in your SETUP WIZARD (page 3). Simply add the various fields, seperated by commas and away you go!!!!

PLEASE NOTE: These changes will only work on NEW albums that have been created after you revisit the SETUP (this caught me out - I thought the thing didn't work!!!!)

That must be my problem...I'll recreate the albums. Sorry for the confusion, and thanks!

This is great, but the problem I'm having now is people are able to edit anyone's text they want. Is there a way to make only the OWNER or uploader of that image the only one to change the text and edit the extra fields?

v1.4-RC2

I just want to make sure, before I go live...hard to test when it keeps logging me in as God...I think it's ok...I got some beta guys helping me test it. Problem is I have over 800 members on this site, and if I have one mistake like that it could take me months to recover!

1.4 has OWNER features (never used them myself) but as I read it - the uploader (registered user through NUKE) only has access (amend, delete, etc) to what is theirs! As long as you SETUP the config that way.

BTW whats the URL (biker myself) Smile

Nice one - sites looking good.

I run a biking site too - http://realbikes.co.uk (server down at the moment, that'll teach me to fiddle with it!!!)

I ride a CBR6 (not quite a HOG Shocked ) but I get a lot of joy out of it. Too much STRESS during the day - it's real great to get out on the road. Too busy trying to stay alive to think about any problems!! Laughing

My gallery has 500+ babes on bikes (yeh I know, only way I can get traffic Cool ) plenty on those EASY RIDERS!

Anyway - did you sort the OWNER issue out?

I think it's working fine. My problem was the guy testing for me. I forgot he was also a limited admin, and had axx to edit everyone. i brought in someone new (regular user), and he can only upload and edit his own. The only issue I see now is I'm getting an error when I try to change the owner on some of the old images I had up on the main site. I get this:

Security error! The file you tried to include is not on the approved file list. To include this file you must edit Gallery's index.php and add photo_owner.php to the $safe_to_include array

I have a Ninja ZX-11 as well as my Yamaha (not a hog either!) http://www.roadstargallery.com/images/mybike [roadstargallery.com]
Enjoy your CBR it's a great bike!

i'm in the process of discussing this with the gallery developers. i'll have them give me a fix, then they'll just toss it into the new version, if it's a general gallery error.

open your index.php in your gallery directory. find this:
Code: ›         $safe_to_include =
                 array(

add these files to the end of the array:
photo_owner.php
upgrade_users.php

they've added this fix to the latest beta of 1.4RC3.

Good eyes Smile
