Thx for the help Dari - however in a fit of rage it got the better of me and ripped out the partition and zero'd all data (who said computers will take over the world!!!) Anyway getting it back up was a fricking nightmare - but I'm just about there!
Server stands at this:
Apache 1.3.28
php 4.3.3
MySQL 4!
Not sure if I still have the same '.htaccess' prob, but at least its a CLEAN machine! Also currently throwing a load of errors - but probably cause I'm not quite finished yet. _________________ "The only difference between me and a madman is that I'm not mad." |

mysql 4, eh? i've been leery on upgrading, since the DB here is pretty big and i don't want to fsck up the site.
i'm not too familiar with the Darwin setup and how it handles filesystems, directory structures, etc. this sounds like a general apache issue (probably a simple configuration thing that neither of us has thought of). you might want to go through the long install file and make sure that all the options you want are enabled with your ./configure command....
also, try doing an .htaccess on another directory, see if it works. if you'd like, i can send you my gallery .htaccess file. _________________

on the setup i have this:
Success - PHP v4.3.2 is OK
Success - safe mode is off
Warning! - Apache is not obeying your .htaccess file. Try entering the following into your web server's httpd.conf file:
<Directory /.../modules/gallery>
AllowOverride Options FileInfo
</Directory>
Warning! - Magic quotes are on. Your webserver owner can turn them off by putting:
magic_quotes_gpc = Off
in your php.ini file
Warning! - Either mod_rewrite is not installed or your .htaccess file is not enabled (see above). Either way, we'll have to use longer URLs in the Gallery. If you want to turn it on I'd suggest that you make sure that your .htaccess file works and then if it still doesn't work you may need to reconfigure and rebuild Apache with this flag:
--enable-module=rewrite
Success - All 12 NetPBM binaries located
Success - All 3 ImageMagick binaries located
Warning! - I can't find jhead. If it's installed and not in the path of the webserver user that's OK -- you can specify the path to jhead by hand on the following page. If it's not installed, you can install it yourself. jhead is a public domain EXIF parser. Source, linux binaries, and windows binaries can be found at the jhead homepage.
Is necessary the jhead?...
I be hosted, so i dotn have access to the apache configuration. |

JHEAD isn't necessary.

.HTACCESS
Does this help:
Using the cuteftp
Site Manager>Edit>General Tab>Check the "Enable Filter" box. Click on the Filter button beside it, on the Options tab, check "Enable remote filters" and add "-a" to the "Remote filter:" field.
I don't use CuteFTP but found this on another forum. _________________ "The only difference between me and a madman is that I'm not mad." |

Checking /identify
Error! (File /identify does not exist.)
Checking /convert

Checking /composite

i check with my hosting the path of ImageMagick and thats the only thing i can have, but i still have problem. I dont know but it dont be a setup or other stuff.. |

Doesn't look like the PATHs are right or ImageMagick isn't installed. Try downloading the NetPBM binaries from GALLERY site. They can be installed in you WEBSPACE and don't need the server admin to do anything. _________________ "The only difference between me and a madman is that I'm not mad." |

I do it before and again do it but it still dont work, i read again the setup page and this message come to me:
Because i have this on the gallery page:
If you've finished your configuration but you're still seeing this page, that's because for safety's sake we don't let you run Gallery in an insecure mode. You need to switch to secure mode before you can use it. Here's how:
Unix with FTP access
ftp> chmod 644 .htaccess
ftp> chmod 644 config.php
ftp> chmod 0 setup //but i use 755 because other turn me a error
AN OTHER STRANGE THING IS THAT ALWAYS AFTER SETUP. THE PAGE PUT THIS:
Gallery Setup: Step 4
Confirm that the settings you entered came through correctly. If you find this page confusing, you can probably safely ignore it (unless you see stuff in red which indicates an error). |
