|
|
I have been trying to install the new gallery into my phpNUKe (version 6.7) site. I have uploaded the gallery directory, as well as the netpbm directory into the modules directory on my webserver. I have created the 2 needed files (.htaccess, and config.php). I have also CMODDed the setup directory to 755 (it was set there by default), and the 2 new files to 666. I have also made my albums directory in the root directory.
But when I try to start the configuration process by going to my setup page
www.oklahomaxriders.com/nuke/modules/gallery/setup/index.php) [oklahomaxriders.com]
I get the following error "HTTP 403 - The Default index.html file could not be found" Now, I realize that I am a N00B at this, but there were never any issues like this when I configured NUKE. Why is my browser looking for a HTML page, whenI am pointing it to a .PHP page? Am missing something here? I have gone through the setup procedure 5 or 6 times now, and keep coming up with the same problem... HEEEEELP!!!!!
----
I would love to give you this info, but since I can't get TO the config wizard, it's kind of a mut point isn't it? |

Try deleting the .htaccess file that you created _________________ "The only difference between me and a madman is that I'm not mad." |

Recheck your PERMISSIONS on the SETUP directory (403 is a FORBIDDEN error) If need be try chmoding to 777 to test. _________________ "The only difference between me and a madman is that I'm not mad." |

By the way, you did meen the htaccess file in the gallery root, not the one in the setup directory, correct?

| That did it. Will I need to replace the .htaccess file after I am done? And just what was that file for? |

no (although if you want to use mod_rewrite you will need it) - but I run GALLERY without the .htaccess file. _________________ "The only difference between me and a madman is that I'm not mad." |

| I was just reading about mod_rewrite. The only thing it does is shorten the visible URLs for sent pictures? |

I would also suggest UPGRADING (or clean install) of 1.4RC2 as it corrects various bugs and has a few other features. _________________ "The only difference between me and a madman is that I'm not mad." |

| Will do.. thanks for the help. I'll just download and install the newer version instead. Will I have to remove the .htaccess file again? |

Yep!! I wish I could address the .htaccess issue too. It's not cucial but having the shortened URLs would be nice!
Strangely my server DOES follow .htaccess instructions (passwords, etc) but just not this!?
1.4 is the way to go! _________________ "The only difference between me and a madman is that I'm not mad." |
