Well, what a weekend it was. This was the first time in the history of Gallery that almost all of the developers gathered to meet each other. So, what exactly happens when you let 28 geeks loose in the streets of New York City? Read on to find out...

I don't know what else I can say to add to what's already been said here, here, here, and here (and, undoubtedly, many more blogs to come).

But, I shall try.

I'll begin with the group as a whole. They are amazing. The diversity and talent that Gallery has amongst it developers goes far beyond almost every other open source project. More than that, however, we all have a common bond: the love of Gallery. Most of us will admit we were a little nervous about meeting complete (almost) strangers for the first time in a huge group like this, but after about 10 seconds of placing a face with an IRC handle, we were 30 old friends meeting in NYC. This friendship and comraderie is what makes Gallery the product that it is. The fact that the developers can all hang out and "de-geek" and still enjoy each other's company speaks volumes. They're a fantastic group, and I'm honored and priviledged to be among them. To borrow a phrase: The Few, The Proud, The Gallery Developers.
Now, some shout-outs on a personal level:

bharat - You are obviously on the top of the list. Without you, none of us would be Gallery-widowers :) On a personal note, without you and your support and encouragement, this site would not be what it is today. Thank you.
h0bbel - Before you, I knew only one Norwegian and he was crazy. I thought it was a fluke thing. Maybe it's in the water you guys drink ;) Besides bharat, you were the one I most wanted to meet. I'm sorry we couldn't spend more time hanging out up there, one short weekend definitely wasn't enough. I'll let you know when my stunt-wife rental company gets started :)
Tim_j - As the person who refuses to let the Gallery 1 flame die out despite all the noise created by Gallery 2, I was eager to meet you. I've probably worked more with you over the past few years than with any of the other developers. Cheers, my G1 brother in arms. Long live G1 :)
volksport - What else can I say but you DID IT. Now get to work on next year's gathering: GalleryCon 2006 - Cruise 'n' Booze.
ckdake - It's a small world, two Gallery devs at Tech :)
jmullan - Damn boy, the things you put in your mouth. Hahaha. I'm speechless.
Lauren - You're not a developer, but I thought you deserved a mention up here. Heck, you're not even my wife, but you played the part convincingly enough :) I had a great time, and you're the best drinking buddy around. Now that we're neighbors again, we've gotta do it more often :)

To everyone else up there that I forgot, it wasn't intentional. You all are amazing people, and I can't wait until we do this again.
