PHPNuke Blocks
Holy Mega Block Release, Batman!!

Posted on Thursday, September 04, 2003 @ 11:04:58 CDT
Whoa nelly, have we got a news release for you. After lots of hard work, updating, etc, they're finally here. What's here, you ask? Read on....

Here's the deal: The newest versions of Gallery deal with global variables in a different way, so the blocks here had to be updated to handle that. One thing that you'll notice is that all of the blocks now have a README file with them, with detailed installation instructions. Also, instead of just doing a little dinky update to each block, we did the following:

New Albums Block:

  • This block now creates a cache file, which is a must for users with a huge Gallery.
  • It checks user permissions before displaying the list.
  • It allows the user the option of whether or not to use thumbnails.
  • If thumbnails are used, the user can control the size and whether or not a border is displayed around them.
  • A second "Refresh Cache" button at the top of the list is available for admin use.
  • You can control how many albums are displayed.
  • You can choose if you want the list to display horozontally (good for a top/bottom block), or vertically (good for a left/right block).
Does this sound too good to be true? Well it isn't. You can grab the new file right here.

Most Popular Photo Block:

  • This block now creates a cache file, which is a must for users with a huge Gallery.
  • It checks user permissions before displaying the thumbnail.
Where can I find this file, you ask? Right here, we reply.

Updated Albums Block:

  • This block now creates a cache file, which is a must for users with a huge Gallery.
  • It checks user permissions before displaying the list.
This block still requires the addition of two fields to the PHPNuke user table. Complete instructions are in the README file in the download, which you can find here.

If you have any questions/comments about these blocks, please post them in the Forums. Please remember to search the Forums before posting a question.
