PHPNuke Blocks
IMPROVED New Albums block

Posted on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 @ 15:25:38 CDT
OK, a bunch of people have asked for it, so here it is. It's a first try, so it may have it's quirks, just post problems in the forums. Read on for details...

UPDATED: NEW VERSION ALLOWS FOR THE ADMIN TO UPDATE THE CACHE FILE AT THE CLICK OF THE MOUSE. ALSO ALLOWS ADMIN TO SPECIFY NUMBER OF ALBUMS TO SHOW.

IF YOU DOWNLOADED THIS BLOCK PRIOR TO WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13 AT 8:45AM (EDT), YOU MUST CHANGE THIS IN THE CODE: ON LINE 134, IT READS:
$stat = fs_stat(CACHE_FILE);
IT SHOULD READ:
$stat = fs_stat(ALBUMCACHE);
THE DOWNLOAD THAT IS AVAILABLE AT THIS SITE HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH THIS FIX AS OF THIS TIME.

Here are some of the changes in this New Albums block over the original:

Creation of cache file - On large albums, this is a must. Cache file is updated daily.
Addition of Horozontal/Vertical Switch - No more separate block files. If you want this to display horozontally, set it to 1, otherwise, leave it alone.

OK, so down to the nitty gritty. Grab the file here. Setup is simple:

  1. Alter the following variables:
    1. GALLERY_BASEDIR - Change this to the directory location of your Gallery.
    2. WEB_BASE_ADDR - Change this to the web address of your server. For example, if you have to type http://www.mydomain.com/nuke/html to get to your site, then you'd enter http://www.mydomain.com/nuke/html/ as this variable. Note the trailing slash.
    3. GALLERY_NAME - Whatever the directory is named which is storing your Gallery.
    4. USE_THUMBS - Set to 1 to show the highlight image, or 0 to just show the name.
    5. HOROZONTAL - Set to 1 to display the info horozontally in the block (useful for top/bottom blocks), or 0 to show it vertically (useful for side blocks).
    6. ALBUM_DIRECTORY - Enter in the full path to the location of your albums.
    7. MAX_NEW_ALBUMS - Set to the number of albums you want the block to display
    8. PIC_SCALE - Leave at 0 to keep the default hightlight size from Gallery. Othewise set to the width of the image you'd like to appear in the block.
  2. Activate your block via your Nuke admin section and you're set!
